Inspired by the 40s and a match of Town and Field themes, Burberry Prorsum took off in London and showered the Fall Winter 2012-2013 London Fashion Week runway with an artificial snowfall and rain like confetti and showcased some fantastic umbrellas.
Still comes with the brand’s iconic trench coats, but in other designs than usual, Christopher Bailey tried to combine two opposing words between Town and Field, which often never meet and do have strong contrasts, featuring a variety of collection made of wool, tweed and velvet.
There are number of trench coats among the collection, although this time they come with large puffy pockets on both sides, paired with tweed pencil skirts below the knee, including the striking match of brown corduroy jacket belted over a burgundy lace skirt with a substantial peplum.
The vintage touch of 40s is clearly visible by the presence of equestrian style skirt, peplum dresses, nipped waist, to quilted clutch with gold ornaments. The ‘town’ theme was represented by number of cropped outerwear over outfit after outfit, while ‘field’ comes with herringbone jacket lined in shearling, a waxed cotton parka, embroidered shirts, and oversize striped tees.
The collection played with colors and prints with city and country themed prints, including some domestic animals prints like sparrows, owls, and dogs, as well as Van Gogh-like sunflower prints or other famous floral printed paintings. The silhouettes of the skirts were consistently long evoking such youth fun loving spirit, while plenty of bows on shoulders, waist cinchers, and accessories represent trend of a classic look with a modern twist of the brand signature.
